The Four Rs --- Think On These Things

Reducing:

One of the main problems I observe in garbage is the large volume of paper napkins and towels.

How often have we taken 4 or 5 napkins or towels when 2 or 3 are sufficient?

Why do we end up throwing away large quantities of edible food?

When was the last time you share a newspaper with a neighbor or coworker so that subscriptions were reduced?

Reusing

Copy on both sides of the paper.

Reuse scrap as scratch paper or memo pads.

Give magazines to friends, coworkers, nursing homes, etc.

Recycling:

Convenience is always a factor, but how hard is it to carry a handful of newspapers to the end of a hall, set them at the curb, or drop them  at a recycling location?  Are we really so busy, or worse, are we that unconcerned with our environment?

Rebuying (items with recycled content):

Items with recycled content use waste product vs. new materials.  Have you made the effort to “rebuy” lately?
