IMMUNIZATION CLINICS
DAKOTA COUNTY HEALTH DEPARTMENT

The Dakota County Health Department holds regular monthly Immunization Clinics on the 2nd and 3rd Wednesdays, between two and four P.M. and on the third Thursday between eight and ten A.M. each month. The Health Department is located across the street west of the Courthouse in Dakota City.

The schedule followed for these immunization clinics is set up by the Nebraska Department of Health, Division of Communicable Diseases. The recommended schedule is as follows: At 2 months, 4 months and 6 months the child receives a DTP vaccination, Polio, and HIB. MMR (Measles, Mumps & Rubella) is given after 12 months. When the child reaches 15 months he or she receives a DTP, HIB & MMR if not given previously. Children are due to have a DTaP, Polio and MMR after the age of 4 to meet requirements for Head Start, Preschool and Kindergarten. A second MMR vaccination may be given at 7th grade if not given previously. College Freshman may receive their 2nd MMR if not given previously.

HEPATITIS B VACCINE can be received. The series usually starts with the initial dose shortly after birth given at the hospital. The second dose is given 1-2 months later and the third dose 5 months after the 2nd dose. HEPATITIS B VACCINE is also available for children up to 18 years of age.

Varicella Vaccine (Chickenpox) is available to children @ 18 months of age if they have not had a known case of chicken pox. Also it is available for 11 and 12 year olds or 7th Graders.

Please bring in any previous immunization records. Permission forms must be signed by a parent prior to the child receiving their vaccinations. NO CHILD will be given immunizations without the signature of a parent. An administration fee of $5.00 per child is requested to help with administrative costs of the clinic.
